The Dayton Area Graduate Studies Institute (DAGSI)

The Dayton Area Graduate Studies Institute, DAGSI, is an educational consortium composed of AFIT, Wright State University (WSU), and the University of Dayton (UD).

The purpose of DAGSI is to provide a mechanism to utilize the combined faculty, research, and resource strengths of the three schools, encouraging collaboration and allowing a great deal of latitude for civilian and military students to craft educational programs for both master's degrees and PhDs.

To earn a degree, the DAGSI student must fulfill the requirements of his/her “home school,” yet is free to enroll in courses from other schools and solicit participating faculty members to be part of the research committee.

Details on the DAGSI program can be obtained from the AFIT Admissions Office, the School’s DAGSI representatives, or the Department’s DAGSI representative.

Southwestern Ohio Council for Higher Education (SOCHE)

SOCHE is a consortium of twenty colleges and universities, one foundation, and two corporations. One of its goals is to promote inter-institutional cooperation, and one of its programs, the Cross-Registration Program, can be used as vehicle for our students to obtain additional courses not otherwise available at AFIT. Students can generally attend courses at consortium institutions with no charge of tuition. Enrollment is based upon the availability of space in the class, and the courses must be part of their approved program. This program is particularly worthwhile for students who lack particular undergraduate courses as prerequisites for graduate courses and international officers who need to improve their English communication skills. Students should send their requests to the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, AFIT/ENW, with a copy of their education plan, stating the reason for attending the requested course with the academic advisor's endorsement. Upon approval, the student will be directed to the Registrar's Office to complete the cross-registration process.
