COURSE:  WMGT 580 Civil Engineer Mid-Level Development - Sustainable Design and Development"

OBJECTIVE:  To prepare a mid-level officer for a staff or other flight leadership position by broadening CE knowledge and integrating processes and resources.

DESCRIPTION:  This course prepares mid-level CE officers for peacetime duties. The course provides in-depth knowledge, application and strategies covering a range of civil engineering and related processes, including funding, program/project management, support agency resources, material/equipment, work force management, supervision, staff work and varying contemporary issues.

WMGT 580 is currently AFIT's sustainable design and development seminar which teaches students sustainability and LEED requirements, demonstrates the fundamentals of the High Performance Sustainble Buildings (HPSBs) and the LEED rating system, gives information and hands-on experience needed to program LEED certified projects, and exposes students to the LEED Green Associate testing requirements. The course completion certificate qualifies as the mandatory prep course required for the LEED accreditation qualification exam.

SECONDARY AUDIENCE:  None

GRADE:   Restricted - See audience.

PREREQUISITES:  No restrictions, but students must be able to complete upper level undergraduate course work.
