The Faculty Development Office oversees, develops, and implements various Graduate School of Engineering and Management programs designed to establish a productive and effective graduate faculty. The office publishes the official faculty handbook, and is responsible for managing the New Faculty Orientation and First Year Experience Programs. The office offers instructional consultation services upon request, and makes available various resources for faculty in areas related to teaching methods, pedagogy, and professional development.
The objectives of the Faculty Development Office are:
- To increase communication among faculty both within and across departments to supplement department mentoring initiatives and create a greater sense of community among the faculty at large
- To provide resources and information to faculty to help them develop confidence in their ability to perform expected teaching, research, and service duties
- To eable faculty to become productive scholars and researchers
- To develop a teaching community that influences the faculty’s attitudes about and practice of teaching
