ADHPLRP Service Obligation-Participants incur an active duty obligation (ADO) consisting of a minimum of two years, or one year of ADO for each annual repayment, whichever is greater. The ADO for ADHPLRP will be served at the completion of any ADO incurred.
The term ADO will be used with specific contractual agreements, specific special pays (i.e. any multi-year special pay agreement), and educational training (including HPSP, HPLRP, USUHS, sponsored residency training), as these items generate ADOs.
ADOs are one type of Active Duty Service Commitments (ADSC). An ADO for any officer multiyear retention bonus and/or multiyear special pay agreement will be served at the completion of the ADHPLRP ADO (consecutively). No portion of the ADO for ADHPLRP will be fulfilled by prior active service.
Participants who enter active duty with ADHPLRP as their initial obligation will be subject to the standard eight year service obligation, a portion of which will be served as an active duty obligation as described above. This eight-year service obligation is served concurrently with any other obligation. Subject to mutual agreement, the participant may fulfill any remaining obligation (after the ADO portion) in the Selective Reserves (SELRES).
Retention (Active Duty Personnel): The obligation for active duty personnel is consecutive if you have an existing ADO for educational training, multi-year specialty pay, and multi-year retention pay. Otherwise, the ADHPLRP obligation is concurrent with your existing obligation. The minimum term of service is satisfied if you have served your initial term of service.
Accession: The total on active duty is equal to the greater of the minimum term of service (MTS) or active duty service obligation.
