Application Procedure
Have you ever thought about teaching in the Civil Engineer School?

Information on applying for a position is listed below. Phase I: Contact The Civil Engineer School
All applicants must submit an application package with the following information:
a. Cover Letter: Include contact information for you and your commander (name, phone number, email and address), intent and program(s) of interest.
b. Military Resume: Tongue and Quill format; include all professional organizations you are affiliated with, teaching experience, etc.
c. Last 5 OPR’s (or as many as you have) and include training reports over the last five years.
d. Letter(s) of Recommendation: Maximum of three; at least one must be from your unit commander.
e. Transcripts: Undergraduate transcripts and any transcripts from other advanced academic degree work completed.
f. GRE Scores
g. Updated Airman Development Plan (ADP)
h. Completed AF Form 3849, AFIT Officer Worksheet: In Part II – Preferences list the academic specialty code for the program(s) you are interested in; leave Part II – Location Preference blank. Part III is written in bullets explaining how your experience and performance will affect your academic degree completion and future duty as a CESS instructor and course director. Part IV should be completed by your commander and typically written in bullets.

Phase II: Committee Review
The faculty recruitment committee reviews completed applications to identify qualified applicants.
Phase III: Presentation and Interview
Ideally, candidates will be brought TDY to The Civil Engineer School for a face-to-face interview with the Faculty Recruitment Committee. The interview will include a five- to ten-minute presentation by the candidate and a question and answer period. If candidates are unable to visit the school, an alternative method will be scheduled (teleconference, VTC, etc.).
