Air Officer Commanding Program

Each year, a central designation board at AFPC will select eligible officers to be Squadron AOCs at USAFA. Selected officers will attend a 1-year AOC masters program, Master of Arts in Counseling and Leadership Development through the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs (UCCS). The goal of the program is to educate and prepare future AOCs for their complex role in developing and inspiring cadets as future Air Force officers. While attending courses at UCCS and USAFA, selectees are in AFIT student status and serviced by USAFA for administrative and advising purposes.

Officers designated to be Squadron AOCs will receive resident IDE credit following successful completion of both the AOC master’s degree and ACSC Distance Learning (ACSC-DL). Officers who have already completed ACSC-DL prior to entering the master’s degree program will have satisfied the ACSC-DL requirement.
