WPAFB has been at the forefront of MASINT/AGI development
for decades. Formed in 2004, the WPMDC formalized
pre-existing AFIT, AFRL and NASIC collaborative partnership
in MASINT/AGI under one umbrella. The WPMDC establishes
a local-level, formal linkage between MASINT/AGI technology
development, education, and user requirements. All
organizations are co-located at WPAFB. AFIT, AFRL,
and NASIC each share different but complementary MASINT
capabilities. Each is pursing overlapping forefronts
of future MASINT/AGI capability development.
- AFIT - DOD focused education and research:
Advanced Geospatial Intelligence IR/SAR Certificate
Program (ACP), ACP Laboratory, many graduate degree
programs.
- AFRL - Basic research, exploratory and advanced
development of exploitation capability, R&D training,
technology translation, enhanced ACP laboratory, modeling
tools, signatures development.
- NASIC - National Processing, Exploitation and
Dissemination producer, developed many key MASINT/AGI
capabilities, tools, and algorithms.
The WPMDC has three goals which are:
- Increase awareness, cooperation, and collaboration
of MASINT/AGI-related activities across APAFB
- Advocate and foster MASINT/AGI analytical capabilities
- Improve transition of capabilities to users
- Leverage joint resources and strengths to improve
capabilities
- Create intellectual capital for the MASINT/AGI community
- Need more MASINT/AGI scientists and engineers
- Foster growth and development of future MASINT/AGI
talent
- Improve MASINT/AGI capabilities
