These positions are open to United States citizens; selected opportunities may also be available for permanent residents. Further information on current opportunities, please Contact the Department.
Postdoctoral Research Assistants: Qualified individuals will have earned a doctoral degree in applied physics, engineering physics, physical science, or other engineering disciplines. Duties may include proposal development, design, execution synthesis, and publication of externally funded research in conjunction with AFIT faculty and Ph.D. and M.S. students. A documented record of successful research experience in these areas is preferred. Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience.
Current Opening (posted May 2010):
Postdoctoral Position – U.S. citizenship or permanent residency is required.
The Department of Engineering Physics invites applications for a postdoctoral position in experimental semiconductor physics. The research associate must have a doctoral degree in physics, materials science, or electrical engineering. The successful candidate will perform electrical and optical characterization of various semiconductors, such as GeSn, SiGeSn, InGaAs, InGaSb, InAsP, and ZnO using Hall effect, deep level transient spectroscopy, photoluminescence, electroluminescence, and SQUID measurement techniques. Therefore, a background in various semiconductors and their electrical and optical characterization techniques is desirable.
Opportunities will be provided for interaction with Air Force Research Laboratory scientists at Wright-Patterson AFB. Selection of candidates will be based on demonstrated creativity, intellectual strength, and experience. U.S. citizenship or permanent residency is required. The appointment will be for a period of one year with a possible extension for additional years, contingent upon performance and funding. The starting date is flexible.
Interested applicants should send a brief message, including (1) year of graduation; (2) names of department and institution; (3) desired areas of research; (4) research activities in recent years; (5) a list of recent publications; and (6) three names of reference via email to:
