Operations Research Students and Faculty Recognized Industrial Engineering Research Conference (2007) A conference paper co-authored by James D. Cordeiro, Ph.D. candidate, and Dr. Jeff Kharoufeh received the "Best Paper Award in Operations Research" at the 2007 Industrial Engineering Research Conference held in Nashville, TN on May 19-23, 2007. The title of the paper is, "Analysis of an Unreliable Retrial Queue in a Random Environment." Air Force Operations Research Symposium (2006) A paper presented at the annunal Air Force Operations Research Symposium (Albuquerque, NM) by AFIT Operations Research graduate Capt John Flory and Dr. Jeff Kharoufeh received the "Best in Working Group" distinction for Space Topics. Their paper is entitled, "Satellite payloads for inclusion on a satellite bus." Military Operations Research Society Symposium (2005) Two papers presented by AFIT Operations Research students and faculty have been nominated for the Barchi Prize in military operations research. The two papers were presented in June 2005 at the 73rd Annual Military Operations Research Society Symposium at West Point. Nominations for the award are those selected as the best paper in their respective working groups. Captain Clinton Clark, along with Dr. Richard Deckro, Lt Colonel Jeffery Weir, and Dr. Marcus Perry presented, "Modeling and analysis of clandestine networks." Major Ed Offutt, Dr. Jeff Kharoufeh, and Dr. Richard Deckro presented, "Distorted risk measures with application to military capability shortfalls." Since 1983, the Barchi prize has been awarded annually for the best paper presented at the Symposium. It is named in honor of Commander Richard H. Barchi, who was a former director of the Military Operations Research Society. Based in part on his thesis work, Captain Clark was also recently selected as the Air Force Company Grade Analyst of the Year. Congratulations! |
