Director's Bio

Dr. Darryl K. Ahner, Director OSD STAT T&E COE
Dr. Darryl K. Ahner is the Director, Scientific Test and Analysis Techniques in Test & Evaluation Center of Excellence (OSD STAT T&E COE). He is responsible for execution of the Center's mission to provide advice and assistance, promote collaboration and use of best practices in the employment of STAT in both developmental test and evaluation (DT&E) and operational test and evaluation (OT&E). In addition, he also serves as Director of the Air Force Institute of Technology's Center of Operational Analysis. In his role as the Director, OSD STAT T&E Center of Excellence, he is responsible for:
  • Responsiveness to program managers and value-added, early-on assistance
  • Engagement with the T&E community
  • Forward thinking methodology development for integrated tests that are statistically rigorous, efficient, and effective
  • Visibility on T&E test plan research requirements and challenges
Dr. Ahner retired from the US Army in 2012. His military career highlights include deployment as a Signal Corps officer in support of Operation Southern Watch, Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics at the United States Military Academy, assignment to the U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command Analysis Center (TRAC), where he led the model development and analysis effort for the U.S. Army Unmanned Aerial System Mix Analysis Study for which the analysis team won the U.S. Army's 2007 Wilbur B. Payne Award for Excellence in Analysis and where he served as a senior analyst dedicated to the Joint IED Defeat Organization on Improvised Explosive Device (IED) analytic efforts and assignment as Director, Mathematical Sciences Center of Excellence at the United States Military Academy where he coordinated research efforts for the Army Research Laboratory and the U.S. Army Natick Soldier Systems Center.
