Admissions
The International Military Student Office is responsible for assisting international military officers and international government civilian employees with the procedures of application for admission to graduate and professional continuing education at AFIT. Prospective international students apply for AFIT through the United States Security Assistance Office (SAO) at the United States (US) Embassy in their home country. Application packages for evaluation for eligibility should arrive at the International Student Support Division (AFIT/ENES) no later than the end of March of each year in preparation for entrance the following September. Application packages should include undergraduate transcripts reflecting all undergraduate degrees; graduate transcripts, if applying for a Ph.D.; test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) scores. Additionally, Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores for technical programs, or Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) scores for non-technical programs. Admission applications for 18 month masters degree programs will be considered by AFIT if GRE/GMAT scores are not available, but the applicant’s academic record and TOEFL scores must be exceptionally strong to make up for the lack of GRE/GMAT scores. Admission applications submitted without GRE/GMAT scores should be sent to AFIT/ENES for consideration as early as 1 Sept and no later than 31 December the year prior to the desired program start date in case the faculty recommends the student arrive early to take preparatory courses. Doctoral applications must include transcripts from all institutions previously attended, GRE scores, TOEFL scores if applicable, and for doctoral applicants a clear and concise statement describing the area in which the student intends to concentrate his or her studies. Doctoral and IDE students cannot be admitted without GRE scores. Packages should be mailed to:
