This course is worth 6 Continuous Learning Points. SYS 279 reviews the latest DoD structure for conducting Logistic Assessments to ensure proper supportability is present throughout the weapon system lifecycle. Logistic Assessments analyze sustainment planning, management, resource identification, and risk mitigation for each phase of the weapon system lifecycle. Assessments should be performed at Milestones B and C, prior to Full Rate Production, and at least every five years after fielding. Students are taught how to plan, organize, and conduct the assessment how to resolve discrepancies and how to report the results to both the AF and the DoD. Use of the assessment checklists for self-inspection of sustainment planning is also covered.
