Our continuing goal is to bring professional education directly to the warfighter. In 2006, the School of Systems and Logistics taught over 4000 students in live classroom courses at their duty locations rather than requiring them to come to the schoolhouse. The cost avoidance in reduced TDY was over $3 million.
In FY 06, the School of Systems and Logistics taught almost 1700 students in resident classes, of which almost half were from the local area and did not requiring TDY funds. Based on our planning factors for average TDY cost, this equates to almost $2 million in savings last year by the school being located at Wright-Patterson AFB.
