About Us

The School of Strategic Force Studies includes three continuing education departments and one distance learning department responsible for developing professionals who will thrive in a technologically competitive environment.

Over 4,000 mid-to-senior level students graduate annually in nuclear deterrence strategy, nuclear command and control communications (NC3) education, and cyberspace operations.

The Department of Nuclear Studies (also known as the AF Nuclear College), located at Kirtland AFB, NM plays a vital role in developing the nuclear enterprise's human capital, consistent with Program Action Directive (PAD) D16-01: Centralized Management of the Nuclear Enterprise.

The Department of Cyberspace Studies, located at Wright-Patterson AFB, OH, is a badge awarding school established as part of the Air Force's Roadmap for the Development of Cyberspace Professionals.

The Department of Nuclear Command, Control and Communications (NC3) Studies located at Barksdale AFB, LA provides NC3 workforce education also consistent with PAD 16-01 and NDAA 2019.

Through the Academic Partnerships Department, over 100 students are enrolled in systems engineering or strategic studies at seven partnering universities such as Harvard University's Extension School, Missouri State University's Department of Defense and Strategic Studies, and King's College in London.
