Maj Joseph Sheldon Ausserer

Major Joseph K. Ausserer is an Instructor with the School of Systems and Logistics, Air Force Institute of Technology, Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. As an instructor he leads and develops in-person and distance-learning short courses on systems engineering and logistics topics including program management, technological readiness, and risk management.

Major Ausserer graduated from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in 2010, completing both a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and a B.S in Chemical Engineering. Simultaneously, he received his commission through Air Force ROTC Detachment 218 at Indiana State University. He completed a M.S in 2012 and a Ph.D. in 2016, both in Aeronautical Engineering from the Air Force Institute of Technology. Major Ausserer has laboratory experience at the Air Force Research Laboratory and flight test experience with the Air Force Test Pilot School. He specializes in small scale propulsion systems and test instrumentation, both for laboratory and aircraft use and has published 21 technical papers, including 6 peer-reviewed journal articles.
