Maj Joseph Spletzer

Major Joseph “Joe” P. Spletzer is an instructor at the Air Force Institute of Technology’s School of Systems and Logistics. Leveraging his background in Supply Chain Management, Air Transportation, and Joint Logistics, he teaches AFIT’s LOG299, a theater logistics-focused course that addresses the roles and responsibilities of joint logisticians. A graduate of the United States Air Force Academy, he began his career in the Supply Chain Operations Wing at Langley Air Force Base, where he managed retail supply chain operations in support of combat aircraft.

In 2018, he deployed to Al Udeid Air Base as a Material Management Flight Commander. He later served at the 721st Aerial Port Squadron at Ramstein Air Base, where he held key leadership roles as the Passenger Services Flight Commander and later as the Air Freight Flight Commander. Major Spletzer then served as the J4 Chief of Mobility at Joint Task Force–North in El Paso, TX, where he directed joint logistics planning for DoD operations along the Southwest border. In this role, he coordinated interagency efforts for counter-drug operations to include U.S. embassy and consulate-focused support across Mexico.

Before joining the School of Systems and Logistics, Major Spletzer attended the Air Force Institute of Technology’s Graduate School of Engineering and Management, earning a Master of Science in Logistics and Supply Chain Management.
