Chris Becvar is a Real Property Instructor at The Civil Engineer School, Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. His primary teaching will be focused on the duties and responsibilities of the base-level Real Property Officer and/or Specialist. Additionally, basic Real Property principles and general management topics are included to increase the student’s ability to function effectively as a member of the Civil Engineer squadron.
Prior to his current position, Mr. Becvar was the Facilities/Construction Program Manager at the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center in the Plans & Programs Directorate, Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio. His responsibilities included a comprehensive review of all project facets, from design criteria to adherence to stringent Air Force and/or national standards/specifications. In this role, he served as the central point of contact for all project-related communications, engaging daily with over 10 vendors to ensure seamless project operations. This meticulous oversight guaranteed that every aspect of the project was aligned with AFLCMC’s objectives. He also was responsible for the financial and temporal integrity of the Center’s projects. This involved verifying that all completed projects met their approved time, quality, and cost estimates. To maintain project timelines, he actively managed construction schedules to ensure adequate labor coverage and performed all required data entry for assigned projects within the enterprise business system. A key part of his role was to proactively identify and resolve any installation inefficiencies, which was crucial in reducing project lags and promoting on-time deliverables. A cornerstone of Mr. Becvar’s success in this role was his ability to facilitate new construction by developing and maintaining strong internal & external relationships, which proved essential for smooth execution of all projects.
