First-Of-Its-Kind Remote Sensing Textbook Now Available

Now available for purchase, The Phenomenology of Intelligence-focused Remote Sensing is the first textbook of its kind to include phenomenology, sensors, and intelligence applications under one cover.

The Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) partnered with Riverside Research, a not-for-profit scientific research organization, to fill a literary gap in the remote sensing community. Under a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement, AFIT and Riverside Research developed this much needed reference that thoroughly discusses the necessary elements of spatial, spectral, and temporal signature collection in the visible and infrared, including non-literal imagery interpretation, thermal, reflective, and polarimetric target characterization, radiative transfer, advanced technical intelligence collection systems, and data processing, analysis, and exploitation techniques.

This graduate level textbook provides a never-before-seen breadth and depth of specialized information relevant to geospatial intelligence disciplines. Built upon an AFIT certification program that ran for 10 years and fielded more than 400 analysts, The Phenomenology of Intelligence-focused Remote Sensing now stands to benefit the broader defense and intelligence communities.

"Building on foundational work, first in Measurement and Signature Intelligence, then in Geospatial Intelligence, and now with the publication of this textbook, AFIT and Riverside Research are further advancing US technical capabilities in the unique and important art of remote sensing technology, furthering the science that can only help lead to a continuation of an upward trajectory and the creation of additional, national scientific and technical achievements in the future," said Hon. Jim Longley, Executive Director, Advanced Technical Intelligence Association. "This book is an excellent reference for anyone working in the Intelligence Community."

Faculty, staff, students, and personnel across the spectrum of academia, government, and industry can now take advantage of this unique, technical reference. International orders are accepted. Visit www.riversideresearch.org/textbook to place an order.
