Sixteen AF majors graduated from the Advanced Study of Air Mobility (ASAM) Program on 17 June 2016 at the USAF Expeditionary Center, Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey.  ASAM, delivered in partnership between the USAF Expeditionary Center and the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), prepares mid-level officers to serve as mobility and logistics advisors to warfighting commanders.
Presiding at the ceremony was Major General Frederick Martin, Commander of the U.S. Air Force Expeditionary Center and Dr. Sivaguru Sritharan, Provost at AFIT.  Major Ian Slazinik was the recipient of the General Ronald R. Fogleman Award for Excellence and Major Nicholas Conklin was recognized as a Distinguished Graduate.
The graduates of the 2016 class included two logistics readiness officers, two aircraft maintenance officers, and 12 mobility pilots.  Typically, the students are comprised of active duty rated and support officers as well as qualified officers in the Air Force Reserve and Air National Guard.
Students take classes in joint transportation management, joint logistics management, and joint planning.  In addition, the students travel globally to hear first-hand the mobility issues and challenges facing the various combatant commands.  Graduates also complete a rigorous graduate research proposal with the mentoring of an AFIT professor.  When complete, the students earn a master's degree in logistics (air mobility) from AFIT as well as AF Intermediate Developmental Education credit for their efforts.  Since its inception in 1994, there have been 329 graduates of the program.
