AF Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications (NC3) Orientation Course

This 2-day instructor-led Professional Continuing Education (PCE) course is designed to orient the newly appointed NC3 and/or nuclear enterprise workforce. Topics of discussion tie NC3 to national defense and its designation as a weapon system. Specific topics may include nuclear deterrence and history, a threat brief, NC3 overview, introduction to the NC2/NC3 mission essential functions, a primer on the NC3 weapons system and associated architecture, cyber security, test reporting, systems and NC3 enterprise modernization. At the conclusion of the course, students will achieve initial insight into the NC3 enterprise at a “basic” level of competency. This is one in a series of short courses and contains Secret material.

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Develop a basic understanding of NC3 requirements; functions; related authorities and policies; and how NC3 systems support the nuclear mission.
  2. Build the educational foundation of NC3 systems: introduce knowledge and proficiency of NC3 systems and the Air Force NC3 Weapons System.
