NC3 300

AF Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications (NC3) Advanced Course

This 3-day, instructor-led Professional Continuing Education (PCE) NC3 is course designed for the advanced development of experienced NC3 professionals. Course curriculum seeks to articulate, integrate, and apply NC3 and National Leadership Command Capability (NLCC) strategy, policy, governance, procedure, architecture, capabilities, physics, modernization effort, at the operational level in order to plan, direct, and execute NC3/NLCC operations in support of the AF core missions and Joint operations. NC3 300 is an advanced course designed to progress those individuals to the “proficient” level of competency and working at the operational/staff level of NC3 operations, sustainment, and modernization. This is one in a series of short courses and contains Top Secret material.

Grade Spread appropriate for attendance - SSgt to SMSgt; Capt to Col; GS12-15.

Upon completion of the couse, students will be able to:

  1. Comprehend the fundamental role of U.S. nuclear forces.
  2. Comprehend key nuclear and NC3, NLCC, and SWCL policy and guidance documents.
  3. Differentiate the roles and responsibilities of key stakeholders and other organizations in NC3 operations, sustainment and acquisitions.
  4. Comprehend the RF wave form and spectrum ranges associated with NC3 capabilities and the impact of Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP) effects, survivability, and mitigation procedures.
  5. Comprehend the AF NC3 AN/USQ-225 Weapons System, its configuration elements and baselines, components, and external dependencies to include transports and thick line/thin line devolution.
  6. Apply foreign threat and cyber threat analysis to effectively assess NC3 performance and modernization.
