Captain Corey Willinger is a Course Director at the Air Force Institute of Technology, Wright-Patterson AFB, OH. In this capacity, he manages, instructs, and consults on all course material for the Avionics Cyber Vulnerability Assessment, Mitigation, and Protection Course within the School of Systems and Logistics.
Captain Willinger received his commission from Officer Training School in November 2008. Since that time, he has held various positions within the cyber community, including: Client Systems OIC, Quality Assurance OIC, Project Manager and Plans and Programs Division Chief. While assigned as the 1st SOCS client systems OIC, he lead network vulnerability remediation efforts, earning a DISA “best practice” and ensuring a base “Outstanding” rating on the first Command Cyber Readiness Inspection in the Air Force. Additionally, Capt Willinger was selected to serve as the CJSOAE J6 while deployed in support of OIF/OEF, and later served as Chief, Information and Knowledge Management, Resolute Support HQ for operation RESOLUTE SUPPORT.
Captain Willinger served eleven years as an enlisted avionics technician on the F-16, B-1B, and A-10 airframes. His enlisted career culminated as a Technical Sergeant while serving as the 388th Fighter Wing Equipment Control Officer.
