Mr. James R. Murphy is a Course Director for the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) School of Systems and Logistics (AFIT/LS) at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB), Ohio. He teaches and manages a continuing education course, Aerospace Cyber Vulnerability Assessment, Mitigation and Protection (ACVAMP) along with additional systems cybersecurity workshops including Current Topics in Cyber for AF Weapon Systems. Before joining AFIT/LS in 2018, Mr. Murphy served as a Senior Instructor/Instructional Designer in the Rapid Development Group of the Air Force Cyberspace Technical Center of Excellence (AF CyTCoE) in AFIT School of Strategic Force Studies where he was instrumental in developing and teaching the Avionics Cyber Vulnerability Assessment and Mitigation (ACVAM) and Avionics Cyber Hardening and Resiliency Manual (ACHARM) workshops as precursors to ACVAMP. Since coming to AFIT in 2009, Mr. Murphy has supported graduate and continuing education programs with instructional design, instructional technology consulting, and classroom teaching. Prior to his transition to AFIT, Mr. Murphy enjoyed a productive first career in the telecommunications industry.
