Dr. Alan Lair, Professor and Head, Department of Mathematics and Statistics, awarded the Instructor of the Quarter for Fall 2013, to Dr. Matthew Fickus. Dr. Fickus received a Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Maryland in 2001, and spent the following three years at Cornell University as an NSF VIGRE postdoc. In 2004, he started working in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics of the Air Force Institute of Technology, where he is currently an Associate Professor of Mathematics. His research focuses on frames and harmonic analysis, emphasizing their applications to signal and image processing.
Matt has been recognized multiple times with this award, and continues his pattern of excellence in education.
