Software engineering education for acquisition professionals.
Video Transcript
The Air Force’s assistant secretary for acquisition, technology and logistics, Dr. Roper, said he wants to bridge the gap between program managers and “nerdy” tech by educating them on the ins-and-outs of software development.
In the School of Systems and Logistics at the Air Force Institute of Technology, we provide software engineering education for acquisition professionals to help bridge this tech gap. Through our education, students learn fundamental software engineering concepts used in the DoD and understand the Air Force’s principle software engineering concerns. We cover general topics, such as project management, requirements, design, construction, testing, and sustainment; and special topics, like agile and data rights.
Dr. Roper said we need to get the Air Force to a point where it can do agile software development. The education we provide in agile covers the values and principles, commonly used methodologies, scaling, project management, contracting, and cost estimating.
