Major Nicholas Olson is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Air Force Institute of Technology.
Major Olson attended Iowa State University of Science and Technology followed by University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Major Olson graduated from basic training in 2011 as a Second Lieutenant and was assigned to the 46th Test Squadron at Eglin Air Force Base for his first assignment. Major Olson then attended Test Pilot School and was sent to the 46th OG Det 1 as part of the AGS-JTF (Aerial Ground Surveillance Joint Test Force) upon graduation. After getting experience in JSTARS and Global Hawk testing, Major Olson went back to Test Pilot School as an instructor Flight Test Engineer. He applied his knowledge to aerial refueling testing as an evaluator test conductor at the 418 FLTS at Edwards AFB. Finally, Major Olson was assigned to the Sensors Directorate of AFRL as a Deputy Branch Chief at Wright-Patterson AFB. He led a civilian team of reserachers in sensing management efforts.
