Colonel Thomas H. Brown, Jr., is the Director, Civilian Institution Programs, Air Force Institute of Technology, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. He manages graduate school and continuing education assignments required to support nearly every aspect of the Air Force’s mission. He oversees 2,400 Air Force members pursuing advanced academic degrees and certifications at over 350 civilian universities, thirteen nations, research centers, hospitals, business organizations and governmental agencies valued at $90M annually. Graduates include medical professionals, attorneys, chaplains and line officers earning degrees in academic disciplines at all levels.
Colonel Brown graduated from Tuskegee University in Tuskegee, Alabama, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science and International Relations. He went on to receive his Master of Arts degree in Human Resource Management from Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri.
Throughout his career, Colonel Brown has held various key positions across 2 Combatant Commands, NATO, and 6 Major Commands. Most notably, he served as Executive Officer to COMAIRSOUTH in Naples, Italy, during the execution of Operation JOINT FORGE/JOINT GUARDIAN, Air Force Global Strike Command’s Director of Manpower, Personnel and Services (A1), Air Mobility Command Inspector General Branch Chief, Air Combat Command Deputy Fighter Group Commander, and a CJ-7 Deputy Director for COMISAF at Camp Eggers, Kabul, Afghanistan. He most recently served as the 72d Air Base Wing Vice Commander at Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma.
