Lieutenant Colonel Don R. Salvatore is the Air University Detachment 1 Section Commander, responsible for designing and implementing quality force, readiness, fitness, discipline, morale, and facilities programs governing the Air Force Institute of Technology, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio.

Lt. Col. Salvatore also serves as the Director of AFIT Mission Support, leading 26 military and civilian Airmen in providing direct support to four in-residence schools, 500 staff and faculty members, and over 500 in-resident and 1,800 civilian institute students attending advance academic programs in 250 locations around the globe.  His work center is responsible for performing operations related to military and civilian human resources, manpower, training, unit deployment, and facility management.

Lt. Col. Salvatore received his commission through the Reserve Officer Training Corps at the University of Florida in 2000.  He has been stationed at numerous stateside bases as well as in Korea, Alaska, Qatar, Afghanistan, and Turkey.
