Technical Sergeant Justin Curtis serves as the NCOIC for the Department of Nuclear Command, Control and Communications (NC3) Studies at Barksdale AFB. Born into a military family in Frankfurt, Germany, he grew up in Montana and entered the Air Force in March 2009. In his current role, TSgt Curtis is part of the instructional team responsible for developing and teaching the specialized curriculum for NC3 professionals.
After starting his career in Security Forces, TSgt Curtis cross-trained into the Command Post field in 2013. This change led to a series of assignments that gave him direct, hands-on experience with the NC3 mission. He brings this operational background to the classroom, having handled Emergency Action Messages (EAMs) for both USSTRATCOM's tanker mission at McConnell AFB as well as the bomber mission at Barksdale AFB. His experience is further rounded out by his time at the 603rd Air Operations Center (AOC) in Ramstein AB, Germany and a deployment to the 609th AOC in Qatar, giving him a valuable joint and international view of C2 operations.
