Capt Billie V. DeLuca is an Assistant Professor of Physics at the Air Force Institute of Technology, Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio. Capt DeLuca teaches fundamental physics to students at the Air Force Institute of Technology in areas such as dynamics, quantum mechanics, and optics. In addition to teaching, she performs research in the fields of quantum optics and quantum information in collaboration with other technical organizations such as the Air Force Research Laboratory. She also serves as a branch chief for the Department of Engineering Physics, mentoring and guiding military students as they complete their masters degrees.
Capt DeLuca entered the Air Force in March 2016 through OTS at Maxwell AFB, Alabama. She completed her initial acquisitions training in May 2016 and since then has held several technical assignments within the Air Force. She served as an analyst and technical lead in the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center, focused on mission assurance for aircraft within the nuclear enterprise. Capt DeLuca oversaw the update of vital guidance for nuclear missions from analysis to publication and collaborated extensively with shareholders in the operational community and with the Department of Energy, eventually becoming a Deputy Branch Chief and Aircraft Lead within her division. Prior to her current position, the captain was a student at the Air Force Institute of Technology and earned a PhD in Applied Physics.
