Major Graff is an Instructor of Atmospheric Science in the Department of Engineering Physics (ENP) at the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), Air University, Air Education and Training Command (AETC), Wright Patterson AFB – Dayton, OH.
In this capacity, he leads course design and curriculum development for AFIT’s Basic Meteorological Program. The program consists of eight courses and enables students across multiple STEM fields to master the fundamentals of atmospheric and environmental science required to carry out advanced meteorological analyses for military operations.
Major Graff holds a bachelor degree from Valparaiso University as well as a Masters from the Air Force Institute of Technology and from Northwest Missouri State University. He entered the Air Force through the Reserve Officer Training Corps in 2011. In 2020, Maj Graff deployed to serve as the METOC Officer and MEDIVAC coordinator for Special Operations Task Force North and West Africa, USAG Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany. Major Graff has worked with and taught both joint and combined forces across multiple tours, including lectures on advanced weather principles at NATO’s CBRN Center of Excellence and providing atmospheric transport and dispersion expertise to Joint Staff. While stationed at the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) he also participated in multiple surge deployments supporting global CBRN forces, led Foreign Military Sales in his R&D unit, received his Level-1 Acquisitions Manager Certification for Engineering and Technology, and completed his Joint Officer Qualification.
