Christine Schubert Kabban received the B.S. degree in Mathematics from the University of Dayton, M.S. in Applied Statistics from Wright State University and a PhD in Applied Mathematics from the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT). She has been researching and practicing statistics for over 20 years in clinical, engineering, and statistical fields and is currently a Professor of Statistics in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics in the Graduate School of Engineering and Management at the Air Force Institute of Technology.
Her current work focuses in applications to structural health monitoring, target detection, and autonomous systems and networks with hierarchical and complex multi-dimensional data in addition to natural language processing. She has over 150 publications in clinical, engineering and statistical journals and proceedings and is co-author of several book chapters including chapters on novel approaches in Structural Health Monitoring in Aerospace Structures, human monitoring systems, and social network analysis. She is the 2022 recipient of the Air Force Gage H. Crocker Outstanding Professor Award, the 2020 Dean’s Distinguished Teaching Professor, the 2018 Southwestern Ohio Council for Higher Education (SOCHE) Faculty Excellence Award recipient, and 2017 award recipient from the Center for Human-Animal Interaction at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine for her contributions to advancing center research. She has served as PI or co-PI on 25 externally funded research projects supporting work from agencies such as the Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR), Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), and the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
In the classroom, Dr. Schubert Kabban has taught statistics courses to a wide range of science, engineering, and medical students on topics in statistical theory, nonlinear and linear regression and modeling, non-parametric techniques, and classification methods. She has been an advisor or committee member for over 50 Doctoral and 20 Masters students. She serves as Curriculum Chair and Academic Advisor of the Graduate Applied Mathematics Program. In addition, Dr. Schubert Kabban consults extensively on statistical matters for a wide range of agencies and she serves as a member and statistical reviewer for the Wright Patterson Air Force Base Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC). She has served the broader professional community as a grant reviewer for AFOSR and reviewer for several professional journals.
