Lieutenant Colonel Jarred Burley is the Associate Dean of Students, Graduate School of Engineering and Management, Air Force Institute of Technology, Wright-Patterson AFB, OH. He leads more than 1,000 joint, international, and civilian students enrolled in graduate engineering and management programs at the school. Colonel Burley is responsible for all graduate student matters and supervising personnel in support of student services, registrar, and admissions functions.
Colonel Burley graduated from the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo., and obtained his master’s degree in applied physics, and a doctorate in nuclear engineering through the Air Force Institute of Technology. Throughout his career, he has served in multiple acquisition and leadership roles to include Laser Effects Physicist within the Air Force Research Laboratory, Mobile Sensor Mission Planning Flight Commander at the National Air and Space Intelligence Center, and Air Dominance Branch Chief and Program Element Monitor in the Global Power Programs Directorate under the Secretary of the Air Force for Acquisition. Colonel Burley commanded the Air Force Radiochemistry Laboratory, 709th Surveillance and Analysis Group, Air Force Technical Application Center, where he supervised a total force squadron of 72 personnel tasked to analyze and assess compliance with nuclear weapons testing.
Prior to assuming his current position, Colonel Burley was the Deputy Group Commander, 709th Surveillance and Analysis Group, Air Force Technical Application Center, Patrick Space Force Base, Fla., and was responsible for a 12 member staff leading five squadrons and 452 Airmen operating a 24-hour data center collecting, processing, and analyzing data in support of international treaty monitoring activities.
