Dr. Douglas A. Buchanan, PhD

Dr. Buchanan is a Research Assistant Professor of Engineering Physics for the Department of Engineering Physics at the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT/ENP).  He was previously an Assistant Professor at the United States Air Force Academy.

  • Meritorious Service Medal 2012 to 2016 “Pioneered a teaching approach utilizing an innovative classroom technique that resulted in his students repeatedly performing above the course average on standardized tests”
  • Meritorious Service Medal 2006 to 2009 “Selected to lead one-third of the Physics Department teaching faculty through an electricity and magnetism course with 880 cadets, a 60% increase over traditional enrollment due to curriculum restructuring”
  • Field Grade Officer of the Quarter 2009 Academic and Leadership Award across five departments (Basics Sciences Division of the US Air Force Academy)
