Dr. Weeks is a Professor of Engineering Physics in the Department of Engineering Physics (ENP) at the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), Air University, Air Education and Training Command (AETC), Wright Patterson AFB – Dayton, OH. In his nearly 30 years at AFIT he has taught a variety of graduate physics courses including Quantum Mechanics, Statistical Mechanics, Electricity and Magnetism, Mechanics, Quantum Chemistry, Group Theory, Quantum Optics, and Quantum Computing, and served as advisor for 1 postdoctoral researcher, 12 PhD students, and 16 MS students. He has authored 47 journal articles, 16 conference proceedings, over 70 conference presentations, 2 book chapters and one patent. Professor Weeks has been awarded 26 research grants, 16 as the principal investigator and 10 as co-principle investigator. Professor Weeks is a theorist specializing in atomic, molecular, and optical physics. His research areas include non-adiabatic molecular reaction dynamics, the quantum chemistry of alkali-noble gas systems and related potential energy surfaces, collisionally broadened line shapes, the modeling and simulation of high pressure plasmas, and the modeling and simulation of fiber lasers and fiber amplifiers. More recently Dr. Weeks has become interested in quantum information science with a focus quantum entanglement between qubits and error detection and correction algorithms run on the transmon based IBM quantum computers.
