AFIT Alum & former NASA mathematician Major General Jerry White, USAF, retired, (M.S. Astronautics, 1964) recalls the moon landing in an article by Colorado Springs newspaper The Gazette.
"White was a well-known name in the space race game before he even got to NASA. While earning his master's degree at the Air Force Institute of Technology, White helped theorize the impact of lunar gravity on orbiting space craft.
"I did my work on how far out could you go from the moon and still be stable," he said.";It was all theoretical. At that time we were still discovering the moon."
