Instructor of Systems Engineering **OPEN TO THE PUBLIC**

Summary: The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a subject-matter expert authority for systems engineering on the resident faculty of AFIT/LSS, performing a wide variety of duties and responsibilities encompassing leadership and coordination of a group of faculty carrying out instruction, curriculum development, administration, research, and consultation as required.

Summary: The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a financial specialist, performing financial management functions involving the formulation, justification, and/or execution of budget analysis and cost analysis.

Student Trainee (Building Manager) **OPEN TO STUDENTS**

Summary: The primary purpose of this position is to provide a student trainee who has been appointed to the Pathways Program with on-the-job training and guidance to further student technical development. 

Budget Analyst - Direct Hire Authority **OPEN TO THE PUBLIC**

Summary: The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a budget analyst in the organizational budget office, performing a variety of budget functions involving the formulation, execution, and/or analysis of budgets for substantive programs and support activities.

Graduate Assistant **OPEN TO THE PUBLIC**

Summary: Performs faculty duties in the Department of Engineering Physics, Graduate School of Engineering and Management at AFIT. The primary role of a Research Assistant (RA) is to provide assistance to a faculty mentor to enhance the value and effectiveness of AFIT sponsored research, which feeds and enhances AFIT graduate education and coursework.

Graduate Assistant (STEM) **OPEN TO THE PUBLIC**

Summary: Performs faculty duties in the Department of Engineering Physics, Graduate School of Engineering and Management at AFIT.
Highlights of Required Qualifications:

  • Candidates must be a U.S. citizen with a relevant technical undergraduate degree in science or engineering disciplines which include but not limited to the following occupational series: 04XX, 08XX, 13XX or 15XX series from an accredited institution by the time employment begins and in rare cases, those with equivalent experience, education and professional recognition.
  • The ability to write programs in Python, Java, C++, or other higher-level languages and/or computational packages such as Matlab or Mathematica, and plotting packages for data processing and presentation.

Graduate Assistant (Non-STEM) **OPEN TO THE PUBLIC**
Closing Date: 31 Dec 24
Summary: Performs faculty duties in the Department of Engineering Physics, Graduate School of Engineering and Management at AFIT.
Highlights of Required Qualifications:

  • Candidates must be a U.S. citizen with a relevant undergraduate degree in finance, economics, logistics, information technology, or related disciplines, which include but are not limited to the following occupational series: 05XX, 11XX, 22XX or 15XX series from an accredited institution by the time employment begins and in rare cases, those with equivalent experience, education and professional recognition.
     

Air Force Science & Technology Fellowship Program
The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine administers postdoctoral and senior research awards at the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), the U.S. Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), and the U.S. Air Force Academy (USAFA) under the Air Force Science & Technology Fellowship Program (AF STFP).

We are actively seeking highly qualified candidates including recent doctoral recipients and senior researchers.
Application deadline dates (four annual review cycles):
February 1
May 1
August 1
November 1

Awardee opportunities:

  • Conduct independent research in an area compatible with the interests of the Air Force laboratories
  • Devote full-time effort to research and publication
  • Access the excellent and often unique Air Force research facilities
  • Collaborate with leading scientists and engineers

Awardee benefits:

  • Base stipend starting at $76,542; may be higher based on experience
  • Health insurance (including dental and vision), relocation benefits, and professional travel allowance
  • Applicants should contact prospective AFRL, AFIT, and USAFA Research Adviser(s) at the lab(s) prior to the application deadline to discuss their research interests and funding opportunities.

Desired skills and experience:

  • Applicants must be U.S. citizens and should hold, or anticipate receiving, an earned doctorate in science or engineering.
  • Awards are contingent upon completion of the doctoral degree.
