AFIT alum crowned “Ultimate Champion” at Warrior Games

AFIT alum Capt Mitchell Kieffer (M.S. Operations Research, 2013) was crowned";Ultimate Champion" on May 16 by taking first place in a five-event competitive track-and-field crucible at the 2013 Warrior Games in Colorado Springs, Colo. He became the first Air Force athlete in Warrior Games history to earn the title!

The title is based on five competitions: 50-meter freestyle in swimming; 10m prone air rifle, shooting; 100m sprint, track; race based on disability category, cycling; and shot put, field.

Fellow AFIT alum Gen Shelton (M.S. Aeronautical Engineering, 1980) presented Capt Kieffer with his trophy.

Capt Kieffer was also recently notified that he made the USAF Triathlon Team - this will be his 4th year on the team. He will represent the Air Force at the 2013 Armed Forces Triathlon Championship, 29 May through 2 June, Naval Base Ventura County, California.
