AFIT alumnus Dr. Guion “Guy” Bluford Jr. (Ph.D. Aerospace Engineering, 1978, and M.S. Aerospace Engineering, 1974, with distinction), the former NASA astronaut who became the first African-American to enter outer space, will receive the Excellence in the Sciences Award on Aug. 17 2013 at the Vietnam Veterans of America’s 16th biennial National Convention.
