Advanced Cyber Education (ACE) Course

2021 Application Pool opens on 1 December 2020. Deadline for submitting applications is 16 February 2021. Applicant selection will begin on 1 March 2021.

NOTICE: Due to the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic, we are taking proactive steps to anticipate and address several safety and educational concerns for execution of the in-residence 2021 Advanced Cyber Education (ACE) course. A final decision on the program’s execution and/or virtual contingency plan will be announced soon. Please revisit at a later date for more information.


Location: Wright-Patterson, AFB in Dayton, Ohio at AFIT/Center for Cyberspace Research

Who Should Apply?: ACE is open to Academy and Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) cadets between their junior and senior years in college. Students must carry at least a 2.75 GPA, be a U.S. citizen and be in good standing in their detachment. Students from all programs of study are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to students majoring in computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, or any information technology related major. Army cadets POC listed below.

Course Overview:
Advanced Cyber Education (ACE) program is a four week course that takes place during the undergraduate academic summer break at the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT). The program consists of an instructional component, cyber war exercises, and cyber officer development days that focus on the study of cyber and its unique leadership challenges.

The objective of the ACE program is to develop the next generation of cybersecurity leaders through an intense program that immerses students in the cybersecurity discipline while educating them on becoming future military leaders. This program covers a wide variety of cybersecurity related disciplines to develop original thinkers and technical leaders who can solve real-world problems in the area of cybersecurity.
