Course Description

COURSE:  WMSS 412 Fundamentals of Financial Management in Civil Engineering Seminar

OBJECTIVE:  Provide students a basic financial management foundation to execute their daily duties efficiently and effectively in a civil engineer organization.

DESCRIPTION:  This seminar is intended to educate students on theories and principles so they may apply knowledge obtained in class to their duties and responsibilities at any duty station. The seminar initially covers fundamental Air Force financial management principles and theories as well as fiscal law. The students then learn how to apply these fundamentals to a civil engineer organization. Furthermore, students gain an understanding of related base civil engineering functions and their interrelationship with AFCEC and AFIMSC. While most portions of the seminar are delivered via lecture or guided discussion, many lesson objectives are reinforced through group exercises.

PRIMARY AUDIENCE:  CE Financial Manager/Analysts and Asset Accountability Manager

SECONDARY AUDIENCE:  All other CE personnel, AFCEC Analyst, AFIMSC Analyst, Comptroller Squadron Budget Officer, Comptroller Squadron Civil Engineer Budget Analyst

GRADE:   No restriction

PREREQUISITES:  None

DELIVERY METHOD:  On-Site: 3-7 Feb 2020 at JB San Antonio, TX.
NOTE: Students from other locations must coordinate with location prior to registering for these seminars and must be prepared to use unit funds to pay for any TDY expenses. AFIT will not fund any student travel.
