Course Description

COURSE:  WTSS 518 Encroachment Management Worldwide Symposium

OBJECTIVE:  For diverse stakeholders involved in Air Force encroachment management to understand the importance of cross-functional integration to address encroachment challenges and formulate strategies to minimize mission risk.

DESCRIPTION:  The AFEM Symposium is both a resident and networked event designed for installation and MAJCOM personnel involved in the Air Force Encroachment Management (AFEM) program. Attendees will receive an overall policy overview to include program updates and emerging elements of AFEM transformation. Sessions on sustaining operations will highlight topics related to encroachment hazards as risks to performing assigned and future missions. The Symposium also provides an understanding of outreach and engagement to form collaborative encroachment planning partnerships with both internal and external stakeholders.

PRIMARY AUDIENCE:  Encroachment Management Team (EMT) members to include Air Installation Compatible Use Zone (AICUZ) program managers, Legal Officers, Public Affairs Officers, Community Planners.

SECONDARY AUDIENCE:  Airfield Operations specialists, Communications/Spectrum managers, environmental impact analysis staff, energy managers.

GRADE:   Officer: O1-O6; Enlisted: E5-E9; Civilians: GS7-GS13.

PREREQUISITES:  None.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:  There are 140 seats available for the residence portion, availability is on a first come first serve basis. Satellite broadcast will be available the morning of the event.
