Cyber Enlisted Leaders Visit AFIT/CCR

Posted Friday, April 29, 2011

Joint discussions about cyber education were in motion as nine Command Cyber Senior Enlisted Leaders from the U.S. Air Force, Army, Navy, and Marines gathered in April at the Center for Cyberspace Research (CCR)/Air Force Cyberspace Technical Center of Excellence (AF CyTCoE), Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT).  The purpose of their visit was to gain a better understanding of CCR’s cyber graduate Master’s and PhD programs as well as the new Cyber 200/300 Senior and Master professional rating courses. ";The visit to AFIT was a great follow-on to the inaugural Cyber Senior Enlisted Summit hosted by 24th Air Force at Lackland Air Force Base on February 1, 2011," commented Chief Master Sgt. Brian Hale, Superintendent of the Center for Cyberspace Research.  “The visit allowed the cyber-focused senior enlisted leaders to further discuss cyberspace training and education from an Air Force and joint perspective.”

In addition to learning about AFIT and CCR's mission and the cyber educational courses offered at AFIT, the enlisted leaders received demonstrations and briefings on cutting-edge cyber research.  The research topics are injected in the Cyber 200/300 and graduate courses, ensuring students receive cutting edge and relevant cyber information, providing for a powerful educational synergy.

The senior enlisted leaders also took time out of their busy schedule to answer questions from Cyber 200 students for nearly an hour.  The students found their insights highly valuable.  One student commented,";I am thrilled that we had a chance to discuss cyberspace issues with the senior enlisted leaders in cyber."

The enlisted leaders plan to meet again this summer at CCR/AF CyTCoE to grow their partnerships and collaboration. ";Undoubtedly, our sister service enlisted leaders left with a better understanding for the Air Force's cyber education capabilities and our commitment to joint service partnerships," said Chief Hale.
