Championships in Pigi Pilis Trikala, Greece in March 2026.
As part of Air
University’s broader mission to educate and develop joint warfighters, AFIT
CI is responsible
for placing selected Air Force officers, enlisted members, and civilians at
accredited civilian universities, hospitals and leading industries to pursue
advanced degrees and programs.
The AFS was established in 1948 as the Inter-Service Sports Council
(ISSC) and is open to Active Duty, and U.S. Armed Forces personnel only,
including Reservists and National Guard members. The ISSC created the policies and procedures
that have allowed Armed Forces personnel to train and compete for national,
Olympic and international competitions.
Capt. Hendricks competed in the men’s 10k race and placed 32nd out of
125 total runners, with a time of 30:28 for 6.2 miles; only two minutes and
eight seconds behind first place. In the
10k race, 37 countries competed and up to four athletes raced from each
country. The three lowest placings of
the individual runners from the same country determined the team score; the
lowest team score won first place. For the 10k race, team USA had four athletes
run and placed fifth overall, led by ENS Murphy Smith who placed 11th overall
in 29:18.
“There were a lot of adjustments team USA had to make with the travel
and collectively, I’m proud of our effort against a really quality field.
Outside of the race, the trip was just a tremendous experience. I’ll cherish
the memories I have exploring Athens and meeting with service members from
other nations for the rest of my life.” said Hendricks.
Capt. Hendricks qualified to run for Team USA by placing third in the US
Armed Forces National Championships, held in rainy conditions in San Antonio, Texas,
in January 2026. At that event, top athletes from the Air Force, Navy, Army,
and Marines competed against each other, with the top four qualifying for the
10K team at the CISM World Games.

Hendricks commissioned into the AF in 2017, and enrolled in medical school at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine through the Health Professions Scholarship Program. After graduating from medical school in 2021, he interned in General Surgery at the University of California, Davis.
He is currently completing his final year of residency in Diagnostic
Radiology at Naval Medical Center in San Diego, California, and was selected as
Chief Resident in 2026. Hendricks will
graduate from residency in July 2026 and will be stationed at Nellis AFB, Las
Vegas, for his first staff tour.
