AFIT Launches New Program To Help CE Officers Earn Their PE or PMP

Posted Thursday, July 14, 2022

Have you ever wanted to get your PE or PMP? The Director of Civil Engineers and The Civil Engineer School want to help!

On Monday, July 18th, The Civil Engineer School launched a brand new initiative to assist active-duty Civil Engineer officers in earning their Professional Engineer (PE) license or Project Management Professional (PMP) credential. The new initiative adds two new AFIT courses: WMSS 501 provides access to online, commercial PE exam prep materials, and WMSS 502 reimburses officers for the cost of their PE or PMP exams after they pass. Officers can take advantage of both programs once during their career.

The courses are open for registration today -- now is the time to obtain your PE or PMP!

If you want to take the PE, but need to refresh your engineering skills, sign up for the AFIT course WMSS 501, Professional Credentialing Preparatory Seminar. Once registered, you’ll have 1-year of access to a suite of PPI (Kaplan) study materials for the PE in any discipline that you choose.

After you take and pass your PE or PMP exam, sign up for AFIT’s WMSS 502, Professional Credentialing Exam Reimbursement. We’ll walk you through the reimbursement process and fully refund the cost of your exam. Members must sign up for WMSS 502 in the FY that they passed the exam. For officers who passed their PE or PMP in FY22, register today for reimbursement!

For more information on WMSS 501 and 502, please visit the Civil Engineer School webpage at: https://www.afit.edu/CE/catalog.cfm

Finally, while the initial launch of this program for FY22 is restricted to active-duty Civil Engineer officers, we are exploring opportunities to expand the program in the future to include opening it up to AFRC, ANG, and DoD Civilian engineers. If you’re interested in this program but aren’t quite ready this FY or don’t currently qualify, please take five minutes to respond to THIS SURVEY so we can identify what YOU need in FY23 and beyond!

In the interim, civilian and enlisted engineers can pursue credentials via the avenues below.

Civilian Force: Currently, credentials can be paid for by your unit. Please use the CE Career Field Team SharePoint Site below to view the current guidance on CE Credentialing Policy.

Enlisted Force: Please visit the Air Force Credentialing Opportunities On-Line (AF COOL) link below to obtain FREE credentials pertinent to your AFSC.
