This is our EDEN 500 printer. In contrast to the Ultimakers, this uses a resin, that prints out much like an ink jet. So it sprays little drops of ink, or resin at the build surface and uses a bright UV light to harden that resin in place. So we use it for larger objects and things with a better surface quality. Including making wind tunnel models for our Aero department to use in testing. So this was printed on this printer. This is multi piece and you can kind of see that its wing separate piece from the body and that was done so that we can print out multiple wings and use one body for all of them. But we could have printed this all in one pass on this printer. This gives us a material that is fairly dense, not incredible strong, it’s suitable for a wind tunnel, gives us excellent surface quality but it is not a really structural material and you wouldn’t use this on anything you wanted to put any serious weight on. So this is mainly used for things we care about the surface, like wind tunnel models and other things where the shape, precision and the surface quality are the most important things.
