Welcome to the Office of the Registrar

The mission of the Office of the Registrar is to support the Graduate School of Engineering and Management by fulfilling administrative record keeping functions as they relate to registration, student academic records, and course scheduling. To fulfill that mission, the Office of the Registrar has established the following goals:

  • Serve the Graduate School in an attentive and cordial manner.
  • Provide a well-coordinated registration process that is student oriented and efficient.
  • Maintain academic records that are accurate, easily understood, and available in a timely fashion.
  • Supply concise information regarding academic policies, transfer credit acceptability, grades, and graduation certification.

Course Registration - Information for Current Students

Course registration for the upcoming quarter opens Monday of week six. Students should be aware of the following as they prepare for course registration:

Important Deadlines: The academic calendar provides an outline of important dates and deadlines for each quarter. Students are encouraged to meet with their academic advisor and book courses early in the registration window so that schedules are finalized BEFORE the start of the quarter.

AU Learner Portal: Students can book most AFIT EN courses through their AU Learner Portal. It is important that students book courses under their appropriate program of study as outlined in the Course Booking Guide

AFIT Registration Form: The AFIT Registration Form is used for course requests that cannot be processed through the AU Learner Portal, such as those which require approval. Registration requests must be submitted on the current version of the form and include all required fields and current signatures.

Special Studies: Requests for Special Studies courses should be submitted as early as possible in the registration window but no later than one week prior to the first day of classes.

Research Hours: Research hours default to 12 credit hours when booked by the student through the AU learner portal. If needed, students should submit a registration form to adjust research credit hours.

Overload: Enrollment in more than 16 credit hours per quarter is considered overload and must be approved by the academic advisor.
