Research Facilities

The Department of Systems Engineering and Management operates a laboratory for research and teaching in industrial hygiene and environmental engineering and science. Research focus areas include emerging water contaminants, aerosols, and nanomaterials. The facility houses the tools needed to carry out analytical chemistry, physical chemistry, and microbiology. The laboratory has approximately 1200 ft2 of space, and has several major instruments including:

  • Dionex Ion Chromatograph
  • Agilent GC-QQQ
  • Zeiss EVO 10 SEM
  • Applied Biosystems Quanto Studio 3D Digital PCR
  • Omicron Argus X-ray Photoelectron Spectrophotometer
  • Applied Biosystems 6 Flex Real-time PCR
  • Agilent UV-VIS Spectrometer
The laboratories are manned by a full-time chemist and are subject to EPA, OSHA, and AFIT health and safety regulations.
