The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the primary point of direct student support reporting to the Registrar and Director of Student Operations.
1. Supports Student Life Cycle Processes. Supports admissions mission by tracking and entering student quota data and academic specialty codes utilizing Air Force Education Requirements Board (AFERB), Air University Registrar Education Program Management (AUREPM) and in coordination with HQ AFPC.
2. Oversees and performs several administrative functions within the Student Operations Area: Responsible for publishing and maintaining the content of AFIT's official student handbook. The handbook is updated at a minimum annually and provides students with critical reference information on numerous subjects.
3. Plans, organizes, and oversees graduation ceremonies. Plans, directs, and conducts awards and graduation ceremonies.
4. Assists the Instructor of Ethical Writing with the management of the thesis and dissertation process (Thesis Processing Center). This position will work closely with the Instructor of Ethical Writing accepting documentation, tracking student progress through the student data system, and coordinating deadlines with departments and students to ensure that graduating students meet and are eligible for conferral.
5. Provides management advice and assistance to the Registrar and Director of Student Operations regarding resources, budget development and execution, and information technology integration and support to effectively meet current and long-range goals and objectives.
The primary purpose of this position is to perform professional laboratory duties and to calibrate, operate, and maintain analytical chemistry instrumentation for the department head and faculty of the Department of Systems Engineering and Management.
1. Assist with educational activities. Give instruction on the operation and maintenance of instruments for educational activities supporting both research and teaching.
2. Manage hazardous material. Ensure safe storage, handling, and use of hazardous materials including chemical, biological, and radiological materials.
3. Asset management. Maintain accurate, real-time records of all equipment, including purchase dates, location, serial numbers, and maintenance history using appropriate software and/or databases.
4. Development of experimental methods. Assist with the development of experimental methods for the analysis of specimens or environmental (e.g. water) samples.
Serve as a Postdoctoral Researcher to substantially increase faculty productivity and improve AFIT educational and research products. Postdoctoral researchers provide a unique opportunity to educate civilian human capital for the Air Force workforce thereby meeting AF STEM human capital needs.
