Frequently Asked Questions

Answer:

You should receive direction from a CE School Course Manager that contains directions for your course. Most funded courses will use the TDY To School (TTS) with follow-on directions for the Defense Travel System (DTS). Some courses will utilize DTS directly with a fund cite label provided by the CE School Course Manager. Unfunded courses (or when directed to use Unit Funds) will utilize DTS directly in accordance with your local policy.

Answer:

AFIT does not operate TTS and, unfortunately, we cannot assist you with TTS issues. For those eligible to receive a Training Line Number (TLN), the course manager will email it to you with additional information. Your Unit Training Manager will know how to process your TLN to generate the LOA. If you have any additional questions pertaining to your TLN, create an account in the TTS portal: https://usaf.dps.mil/teams/AETCFM/aetcfmstp. (TTS no longer has a direct email.)

Answer:

The Cross Org Line of Accounting (LOA) label is provided once a fund cite has been loaded into your DTS account to pay for the TDY. Once you have created your Authorization Order in DTS, select the Accounting icon from the top legend and then view the Accounting Codes box located at the top left-hand side of the screen. Click the Cross Org LOA: drop-down box and select the appropriate label.

Answer:

TDY-to-School is operated by the 502 CPTS/FMFLT, not AFIT, and we are unable to get involved in the actual orders process. If you have questions or need clarification, contact 502 CPTS at DSN 487-2971, commercial (210) 652-2971 or send an e-mail to: tdy.school@us.af.mil.

Answer:

AFIT CE works with Wright Patt Inns and local DoD Preferred hotels to block rooms for courses held at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.  The Course Manager will send out all relevant information (e.g., contact info, booking links) after the course registration closes. The student will be responsible for making their reservation based on where their course group lodging is secured.

For group lodging secured in DoD Preferred hotels, you must use the link provided in the email from the Course Manager. Within the link, you can add your personal information and your GTCC to reserve the reservation. You should book your reservation no later than 10 days prior to the class start date or the reservation will be cancelled. Once you book your room, you will receive a confirmation number. If you do not have your GTCC at the time of booking, you can book with your personal credit card and provide your GTCC when you check in.

Answer:

You must call lodging to confirm your reservation with your GTC/credit card no later than the Thursday before the class start date or the reservation will be cancelled.

Answer:

You will receive a pre-course letter from TCES a couple weeks prior to the class start date. Lodging information will be included in this letter. If you do not receive your letter by the week prior to the class start date, contact the school at DSN 785-2156 or 937-255-5654 ext. 2156.
